The engineering team runs on cloud infrastructure with volumes growing every day, and values ownership and problem solving. Positions are open across several product domains (Core, Business, Consumer), and Satispay assigns the domain at the end of the process.

What you will do

• Design and evolve the most sensitive systems of the payment platform, owning them from design to production

• Contribute to services for bank integrations, risk and fraud prevention, where performance and reliability matter

• Lead technical analyses that span multiple services and produce high-quality documentation (Smart Papers) for stakeholders

• Ensure quality through solid testing strategies and safe rollouts

• Handle incidents and production issues with debugging, monitoring and clear communication

• Help junior and mid-level engineers grow, share knowledge and take part in the team's technical decisions

Technical requirements

• At least 5 years of experience as a backend engineer on production systems

• Experience designing complex systems or features as the main contributor

• Solid understanding of distributed systems and microservices

• Experience in cloud environments

• Knowledge of Java or similar languages, with a genuine willingness to master Java, the dominant language in the stack

• Ability to read and comment on Java code

• Fluent English

Nice to have

• In-depth experience with Java and Spring Boot

• Experience with AWS (another cloud provider is fine too)

• Experience with high volumes, performance and scalability

• Experience with metrics, logs, alerting and structured incident management

• Experience working with both junior and staff engineers

Contract and compensation

• Employee contract, CCNL (Metalmeccanico) national collective agreement, 12 monthly payments (freelance VAT-number contracts are not available)

• Gross annual salary of €51,000-66,500, depending on experience and skills, plus a stock option plan

How the team works

• Hybrid: two days a week in the office, Tuesday and Thursday

• Working language: English, Italian is not required

• Process: interviews with Welyk (recruiter and Tech Xpert), then an interview with Satispay, three remote technical steps (Java code review, system design, a chat with the future manager) and an on-site day
